ABOUT US

Children Come First (CCF) is a 501(C)4 organization supported by individuals, community groups and businesses who care about South Carolina’s abandoned, abused and neglected children, as well as the economic health of our state. Founded in 2008, its primary purpose is to provide a unified voice in advocating for systemic improvements in South Carolina’s foster care system.

STAFF:

Naomi Torfin, Executive Director

Ms. Torfin has a long career of public service.  After graduating from James Madison University in Virginia, she joined the United States Peace Corps and served in Niger, West Africa.  Upon return Naomi worked as an event manager for a chamber of commerce and found her passion working with young adults aging out of the foster care system.

As an alumni of the foster care system herself, Ms. Torfin understands the overwhelming obstacles faced by children in care. Understanding the importance of having a forever family and a place to call home, she works tirelessly to be a voice  effecting positive changes for South Carolina’s abused and neglected children.

Andre Chambers, MSW,  Senior Volunteer Assistant

Andre is a Masters of Social Work graduate from the University of South Carolina.  He worked for many years in South Carolina’s child welfare system and brings a wealth of passion to the betterment of child welfare policy and practice throughout the state.
